Welcome to The Three Pickerels

The Three Pickerels is a charming eatery located at 19 Bridge Rd, Mepal, Ely, CB6 2AR, in the United Kingdom. This delightful venue has quickly become a favorite, boasting an impressive rating of 4.5 stars. Visitors rave about the restaurant’s picturesque riverside setting, perfect for enjoying a meal outdoors during pleasant weather.

Guests like Gill George express their enthusiasm, describing it as a "fabulous lunch spot" with "very, very good food" and a level of attentiveness from the staff that feels personal and welcoming. Similarly, Yasmin Dang enjoyed a lovely Sunday lunch at The Three Pickerels, remarking on the friendly service and well-presented dishes. The outdoor seating allows diners to soak in the scenic river views while enjoying generous portion sizes that leave you feeling satisfied but not overloaded.

Beyond the culinary offerings, the hospitality is a standout feature. Angie Coxon commends the staff for going above and beyond, even accommodating motorbike parking for guests, further enhancing the welcoming atmosphere. With modern, spotlessly clean rooms that overlook the river, guests find comfort in every detail. The ambiance strikes a perfect balance between casual and refined, making it an ideal choice for family gatherings or special occasions.

For those hoping to explore the area, The Three Pickerels is conveniently located near notable attractions such as the Ely Cathedral, which captivates with its Gothic architecture, the tranquil Wicken Fen Nature Reserve, and the Stained Glass Museum. These local highlights make it a fantastic choice for travelers looking to combine a taste of nature, culture, and history with their dining experience.

While some visitors, such as Stephen Samson, note that the prices may lean towards the higher side, the consensus remains that the quality of food and service justifies the cost. As Helen Groves found, the evenings can come with a lively pub atmosphere, particularly on weekends, which adds an authentic charm to the experience.

In short, The Three Pickerels is more than just a place to eat; it’s a destination where excellent food, generous hospitality, and beautiful surroundings come together to create moments worth savoring. Whether you are looking to indulge in a delicious meal or enjoy a leisurely stay, The Three Pickerels promises an experience that is truly memorable.

Went to the restaurant and had a lovely Sunday lunch. The staff were very friendly and the restaurant had lots of great seating. We sat outside and enjoyed the sight of the river and the weather was great. The food was well presented and surprisingly good. The portion size was very good and not overloaded! Overall, looking forward to coming back again.

I cannot recommend this highly enough. Everything was excellent. All the staff were genuinely lovely and went out of their way to make you feel welcome. They let us park our 4 motorbikes next to the pub rather than in the car park so they were safer for us. The rooms were modern and spotlessly clean. The food was excellent and good sized portions. The weather was good so we sat outside when we arrived in the afternoon, but ate inside in the evening and morning for breakfast. We would definitely recommend and return again.

A last minute overnight break made perfect by the staff, surroundings, food, room and the unexpected entertainment of a surprisingly competitive bingo night which is apparently just an Easter and Christmas treat. Lovely riverside pub/restaurant setting with good outdoor and indoor space, a modern, stylish yet simple and immaculately clean and comfortable room with a balcony overlooking the river, superb Sunday roast and big breakfast to soak up the extremes of a boozier afternoon and evening than expected on a perfect spring day, and very reasonably priced. The real secret to this place was the staff - a young team, very professional, friendly, attentive but not intrusive, and a great mixture of personalities. Obviously a favourite with the locals (lucky them to have this gem on their doorstep!) but an excellent hideaway for visitors -the kind of place you sort of want to tell everyone about but would also like to keep a secret just for yourselves so you can always get a room when you want one!

Tucked away but only a short bus ride to Ely. Easy reach by car to many local sites of interest. We had two very tasty dinners there. Room was large, clean and airy, and everything worked well. Lovely views over the river. This is a working pub, so expected some evening noise from patrons especially on Friday and Saturday nights, but there was nothing excessive. Good to see the place was popular with locals. Would quite like a return visit and explore more on foot next time.
